1.9 Distance criteria

In the Netherlands, a number of additions to the European Regulation apply in to: ​​distance to roads and railway lines.

The following additions apply to subcategories A1 and A2:

  • It is mandatory to maintain a horizontal distance of 50 meters from roads in use where a maximum speed of at least 80 kilometers per hour applies.  
  • It is mandatory to maintain a horizontal distance of 25 meters from railway lines.

Subcategory A3 will maintain this horizontal distance of 150 meters of course.
