Chapter 1

1.8 Flying over uninvolved persons and buildings

In principle, flying an unmanned aircraft over uninvolved persons is not allowed. However, there are exceptions for UAS in classes C1 and C0 and for privately built unmanned aircraft with a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of less than 250 g. The distance rules for class C2 UAS (flying over buildings is allowed, provided they are in the VLOS) are set out in 1.4. Longer distance rules apply for class C3.
