6.8  Inspecting the UAS and safety considerations

When flying an UAS, there are a number of risks related to the device itself that must be considered, including:

  • Inspecting the systems;
  • Securing the load; 
  • Shielding of the rotors;
  • Storing batteries correctly (see section 6.5.4). Storing batteries correctly (see section 6.5.4).

As described in the chapter on procedures, pilots must always check that all UAS systems are functioning properly prior to the flight or during the first stage of the flight. These steps are described again below:
