Chapter 3 | Meteorology

3.2 | THE EFFECTS OF WEATHER ON AN UNMANNED AIRCRAFT

Weather conditions can have a major impact on the performance of an aircraft. The most common weather conditions you will encounter as a pilot are wind, temperature, visibility, air density and solar activity. Each condition has its own specific influence.

3.2.1 | AIR PRESSURE AND AIR DENSITY

3.2.2 | WIND

Due to the earth's rotation, weather systems in the Northern Hemisphere are biased to the right and in the Southern Hemisphere to the left. This is also called the coriolis effect. This effect causes the air in the Northern Hemisphere to:

    3.2.3 | TEMPERATURE

    3.2.4 | VISIBILITY

        3.2.5 | SOLAR ACTIVITY

        3.2.6 | THERMALS
