2.1 | EUROPEAN DRONE LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS 

2.1.1 Open category

In particular, private drone photographers will operate in the so-called Open category. This category covers low-risk flights. The Open category consists of three sub-categories:

  • A1: drones without a CE label up to 500 grams or drones with a C1 label (up to 900 grams)
  • A2: drones without a CE label between 500 grams and 2 kilograms, or drones with a C2 label (up to 4 kilograms)
