Chapter 1- STS

1.4 | OPEN-CATEGORY 

The Open category within the EASA legislation is divided into three subcategories: A1, A2 and A3. The distribution is based on basic flight restrictions, pilot requirements and the technical requirements of the unmanned aircraft. 

1.4.1       Subcategory A1

Flight operations in subcategory A1 must meet all of the following conditions:

  • Flights shall be conducted by a pilot familiar with the unmanned aircraft manufacturer's operator's manual.
