5.2.1 EVLOS

In addition, an observer can also be used to increase the distance of the unmanned aircraft from the remote pilot. According to the so-called Extended Visual Line of Sight (EVLOS) principle, the pilot no longer has a direct or complete view of the aircraft, but the observer does. The pilot and the observer are in direct contact with each other. Communication between the observer and the remote pilot should be immediate, and the latency should be less than 15 seconds.
