A pixel is a light-sensitive cell located on the sensor of a camera. 1 megapixel (MP) stands for 1,000,000 pixels. The number of megapixels can be compared to the resolution of a screen. The numbers indicating the resolution of a screen, for example 1920x1280, mean that the screen contains 1920 pixels horizontally and 1280 pixels vertically. Converted, this means that the display has about 2.5 megapixels (1920x1280).
