How many pixels of a given brightness are in a photograph is illustrated by a histogram. The histogram is used to determine whether the image is not overexposed or underexposed. A well-exposed photo always results in a histogram that is balanced. Is the photo overexposed? Then the peak of the histogram will swing to the right, the opposite is true for an underexposed photo.
