Mass, balance and centre of gravity are extremely important to the functional performance of a drone. If a drone is not balanced, there is a risk of the drone becoming uncontrollable.

The balance of a drone is determined from its so-called centre of gravity. The entire mass of the drone converges in this centre of gravity. For standard drones under 250 grams, the centre of gravity is pre-determined in the factory. A number of factors could potentially upset the balance:
